Temporary Hearing Loop
It’s been a couple of years since we put down the largest temporary hearing loop in the USA (That one, in Columbus, OH) and we haven’t stopped. Last year we put a temporary hearing loop down in New Orleans, LA and in June we put down another temporary hearing loop in Kansas City, MO.
All three loops were created for the UUA General Assembly.
The Kansas City Convention Center is a HUGE space and especially reverberant. The sound bounces all over the place making it hard for many to understand the speakers.
Luckily, a temporary hearing loop was put down so that hearing was made easier.
There were close to 3,000 people at this conference so there were several loops.
As you can see, it was taped to the floor and then rugs and chairs put down. It was there but in the end it was barely noticeable.
Don’t try that (photo above) at home! The loop stayed down for 7 days with our van, tow motors, dollies and thousands of people going across it.
Then we rolled it all up and brought it back to Ohio.
It was a lot of work but the best part is knowing that those attendees with hearing loss were able to hear every bit of every service or lecture they attended in this room. Many thanks go out to UUA for making a hearing loop possible and making it easier to hear General Assembly.
